The Vampire Games by Stephanie Archer

4.5 / 5 stars

I'm going to start by saying I really liked this story I'm not sure whether to give it a 4.5 or 5 stars, so its somewhere around there for me. I'm really excited to keep reading the next book when it comes out! I'm really not sure if my review will count as spoiler because I'm Just kinda talking my feelings through about it so just a heads up!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

General Comments:

The Vampire Games was an interesting read, the vampire culture was written a bit differently then other vampire books I've read. It still had a hierarchy but the focus was mainly on the games and human vs vampire mentality. In the beginning I felt so angry with the main character Bianka I didn't like how the humans were treated. I was also worried she would forget her anger and somehow become a vampire loving human and switch sides but Im glad I kept with it till the end it restored my faith in her. I did have a few questions throughout about the "Feeder society's" is the whole world like this or is this just in a small location somewhere, I was just trying to imagine the scope of it all does it happen all over the world or is there factions like this all over or is it the only one if they left those towns could they get free?

Characters:

I actually liked the main character Bianka, I was rooting for her the whole time I think she was a really good friend and to someone who didn't show me he deserved that friendship. She did what it took to survive. I'm really glad she stuck with her beliefs the fact that even though she may have grown closer to some vampires or felt something other the hatred for a few, she didn't do the whole Stockholm syndrome thing and forget how she felt in the beginning and her need for escape.

Phillip our blue eyed vampire prince, I wasn't sure how to feel about him at first, I still don't think i do. I think I like him but at the same time we don't really get to know him that well hes more of a mystery. I can say I'm intrigued to know more.

World Building:

I think the vampire/human world needs to be a bit more informative for me, I'm not fully clear on how the vampire society works or how large it is, I just know of the few factions they have and what they are called and kinda a vague idea how they live. And same goes for the Human side it seemed all normal up top normal day to day lives but then i get a hint of it being this weird molded cookie cutter life everything is like step-ford. who is keeping the whole town from leaving? is it the whole world set up like this is the vampire factions super large is it just across the US or Canada or all of the world. I just have so many questions about it. Its definitely intrigued me and I want to know more about it so I think that's a good thing. The ending finally started to get excited and it was over I need the second book!
