Assassin's Heart by Sarah Ahiers

3 Stars ★★★

I wanted to like this more then I did but the main character just held me back.

General Comments

I think the idea was interesting with "Families" of a assassins, kind of Mob boss like. With gods and goddesses who were an actual presence in this world and not just a myth. it was a decent read it just didn't make me feel an emotion really along with the character.

Characters

Lea Saldana, I just didn't like her I mean the guy she was secretly seeing OBVIOUSLY betrays her to have her entire family murdered and through most of the book she goes I hate him but I miss him I can't stop thinking about him. Add that on top of her wanting revenge for her families murder this character just didn't make me feel it. Even though she went on about getting revenge and how sad or angry she was I didn't feel the anger or betrayal I felt like Lea needed to take it more seriously then I think she did. And she's suppose to be this really well trained assassin her family is the number one family but she just keeps making mistakes she just comes across as a regular 17 year old girl who can kill people.

World building

The whole Ghost aspect and praying to this goddess was interesting to me I think that added a really unique element because they were involved it was real in this world and not just some myth. The gods and goddess were real.

Over all I give this a 3 just because I had some issues with the main character everything else I think was good it kept me reading I just didn't like her I just expect more from my strong female lead characters and maybe I have to high of standards I don't know. But once I get annoyed with a character it really brings the rest of the book down for me no matter how good the rest is.
